Abstract

Educational buildings in the third world, including Egypt, suffer from numerical and qualitative deficiencies, lack of development
and coexistence with the digital and informational renaissance. The problems of the basic education buildings also vary due to the
lack of know-how and environmental standards, resulting in educational buildings that do not meet the required environmental
and functional requirements. Consequently, there has been a clear trend towards the application of sustainable architecture
standards in school buildings.
Therefore, this research aims to evaluate and develop the Egyptian basic education schools by developing proposals that conform
to environmental standards of sustainable architecture. By highlighting the LEED BD+C: schools (V2009) system. Also, an
analytical study of samples of projects evaluated and approved by this system.
Finally, the study will describe and evaluate the environmental performance of the most recent schools, which was recently built,
to access the latest developments adopted in this type of building in Egypt. Finally the study will conclude some perceptions and
proposals that can help schools projects to evolve in the future.
